The holidays are almost here! Every year I seem to go on this binge baking spree that is totally unnecessary, but delicious!! Often, I end up sharing cookies and other goodies with friends and neighbors. I just can’t help it! I love the smell of things baking in the kitchen and sharing the deliciousness.
This year, I decided that I could whip up some other fun things to share as well (and I’ll share them with you). Here is one of them. A delightful holiday foot scrub.
There is not much more spa-like than giving your feet a little TLC while relaxing in the comfort of your own home! There is also not much better than the smell of baking cookies, so I thought, why not combine them?! It was really easy because I had all of these ingredients at home…and maybe you do too!
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract (not imitation)
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
In a small bowl, mix all ingredients together and then transfer it to a glass jar for storage. Since all of these ingredients are shelf-stable, this mix will keep for several months or more! This foot scrub makes a great gift for the holidays if you put it in 4 oz jars.
I like to use this at the end of my shower after my feet have “soaked” a bit. I just rub it on and then rinse off. (I don’t wash it off with soap since I want to keep the oil on my skin for moisturizer…A word of caution though, when you step out of the shower your feet can be a bit slippery, so be careful!!)
Another way that I use it is as part of a all-natural foot treatment for cracked heels. Towards the end of the summer when we have been outside a lot and my feet have been mostly in sandals, by heals can begin to get cracked. This looks bad (my daughter once told me that my feet looked like the desert…leave it to kids to be honest!). It can also be painful and dangerous since infections can form in cracked skin! Here is my post on how to heal cracked heels.
